Our suppliers have all been inspected by an approved organic certification body such as the Soil Association or an overseas equivalent for imported produce.

We try to keep the supply line of our perishable produce as short as possible, to ensure everything reaches you as fresh as possible. We have long recognised that many of our customers like to buy as much produce sourced from Wales as they can, so we oblige. Our fresh meat, ham and bacon is usually reared and certainly butchered and cured in West Wales. Our chickens come from Leominster, our ducks from Pembrokeshire.

The smokery for our wonderful value smoked fish and poultry is situated in the Preselli hills, Pembrokeshire, and uses beech and oak chippings from the owner's own woodland.

Our award winning eggs are also from a small farm in Pembrokeshire.

Throughout the U.K. harvest seasons we buy vegetables and fruit from Welsh organic producers.

Many of our customers seem to agree about the outstanding quality of Essential branded products providing competitively priced "own label" food to the independent organic food sector.

Our principal suppliers have all supported us since we began trading in 1990. In that time we have established trust and a lasting support with the owners of those businesses that we are convinced is reflected in the quality of the food we offer.

All organic food has to be certified G.M.O free.

Many of our grocery lines bear the Fairtrade mark or clearly state their fair trading credentials on the packaging.
